Nomad Coin 2.0

The Wandering Coin, rebuilt

Abstract

Nomad Coin 2.0 (NMD) is a fair-launch, CPU- and GPU-mineable cryptocurrency for digital nomads and the merchants who serve them, rebuilt on modern Bitcoin Core so it can be swapped directly for Bitcoin.

It keeps what defined the 2018 coin: the HMQ1725 mining algorithm, a 210 million coin cap, and the goal of giving people who live on the road a simple, transparent way to pay and get paid. It replaces the 2018 code, which no longer exists, with the current Bitcoin Core codebase, including SegWit, time-locked transactions and Taproot from the first block.

Background: Nomad Coin 1.0 (2018)

Nomad Coin launched on January 26, 2018, created by Jeremy A. Henry (BtcNomad). Its white paper set out the mission 2.0 inherits: let digital nomads pay merchants, and each other, in crypto with full transparency on a public ledger. It used HMQ1725 with proof of work plus proof of stake, a 210,000,000 NMD cap, and no ICO, and it was listed on Cryptohub.online and CoinExchange.io. Both exchanges later closed, and the source code and website went offline. 2.0 is therefore a new chain, not a continuation of the 1.0 ledger.

Monetary policy and distribution

Every NMD in 2.0 is created by mining: no premine, no presale, no team allocation. Half of all coins are mined in the first 8 years. In era 1, about 720 blocks a day create about 36,000 NMD a day. Community rewards such as faucets and airdrops come from coins the project mines or buys, publicly disclosed.

Exchanging NMD for Bitcoin

NMD reaches Bitcoin in three steps, each unlocking the next as the network grows: atomic swaps from launch, decentralized exchanges next, and centralized exchanges once the network has steady miners, always-on nodes, a public block explorer, a mining pool and real volume. No one can promise a price or a listing.

Who it's for

Full-time RVers, van-lifers and backpackers who sell crafts, repairs, guiding and online services to each other, and the campgrounds, mechanics, outfitters and online shops that serve them. Every payment is on a public ledger, the transparency 1.0 promised.

Risks and legal notice

NMD may never be worth anything; mine it, hold it or spend it only with what you can afford to lose. A small network is easier to attack, software can contain bugs, mining costs electricity, and crypto rules change from country to country.

This paper is information, not an offer to sell anything and not investment, legal or tax advice. Nomad Coin 2.0 has no presale and no ICO, and the project makes no promise of profit. Before any coins are sold, listed or promoted with claims about value, the project will get advice from a qualified attorney.
